Hello all, i hope i am posting this in the correct area. I recently restored my first computer, an IBM Netvista 6269 D2U. However, even with the original CPU, i get error code 167 saying something about cpu error or the like. I was hoping someone here had the BIOS update for this particular computer. I am unable to locate it through other forums or google searches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if this is not the proper area to place this, can someone tell me how to move this so i may post it in the proper location?

you posted in proper location. I think the 6269 (Netvista A20) used an OEM Gigabyte board GA-6WMMC7.
here is the 2002 IBM archive page listing BIOS: http://web.archive.org/web/20021002025607/htt … pe=&subtype=Cat
look at the file names and find them here: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/netvista/
or here: https://ftp.zx.net.nz/pub/archive/ps-2.kev009 … 78.html?C=S&O=A
Aptiva and Netvista (and Thinkcentre) shared some boards and bios but make sure you get the one for Netvista....
the ptjt20a.exe or pt1z20usa.exe is the newest at 2001/06/18 I could find.....

Before flashing: which version BIOS do you have ??

That would be PT16a BIOS, or ptjt16a.exe or pt1z16usa.exe by IBM bios update names AFAIK....
so the ptjt20a.exe should be a good update for you. With IBM you are always at their mercy if a flash upgrade works though. Have NetVista 8307 and found that out 😒
But is it possible your battery is failing ? Had lots issues with batteries and my NetVista...

When i did the restoration, i replaced the cr2032 with a new one, as well as replaced the actual coin cell holder itself (old was was starting to corrode for some reason) I have also had issues with the board turning on sometimes with it giving a really weird bios beep error that is not recorded anywhere, though it has been a while since tht happened, if the update you reccomended does brick it, i can always replace the chip that holds the bios.

I am using the Intel SL46T Celeron 566MHz, which is the CPU that came with the machine when i got it, before i did the restoration of the machine recently, back when i got it, i though i was a big shot and knew better then other people, so did a lot of janky stuff to it, it is now as close to its orignal self as i can get it bar me figuring out the paint code for the paint IBM uses on the machine.
