Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with USB 2.0 VIA controller on my late DOS/Win98SE build. The system specs are:
Abit BE6 II 1.1
Pentium III 866 Slot 1
3x128 PC150 Kingmax RAM

The thing is whenever i copy something large (>300MB) from USB it stops at ~50% and disconnects the USB, with smaller files i don't have any issues.
Tried to swap PCI slots, different NUSB drivers, without luck.

This is the hardware issue. I've tried Ubuntu 7.04 live CD and it also stops at ~50% but after 10-15 seconds the file transfer continues, unlike Win98SE.

Regardless of what flashdrive do you use?
Only one large file or multiple small files?

Is this a VT6202 or a VT6212?

I have one of these and needed to install the attached driver to get it running in a stable way on my VH6T:

Also, have you installed the VIA 4in1 drivers?

I haven't been able to get USB 2.0 working on win98 regardless of chipset.... tried on VIA, intel and nforce maiboards. Issues vary from blue screens after installing usb 2.0 drivers to read issues similar to what OP is describing. I've resigned myself to skipping USB 2.0 drivers altogether when building a '98 PC.

Have you tried a NEC card? I've got one of those NEC 2.0 USB cards and it ran on absolutely any machine I'd throw at it, from 430VX all the way to i845 and i865.
