This is the same motherboard I have in my Gateway, this looks like a completely standard ATX motherboard layout, am I missing anything obvious?

That is a slightly diff Gateway board. According to Youtube video on Gateway 2000 G6-233m Examination, the board has two ISA slots like this one:

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I saw that as well. That seems to be for the desktop profile 233M, not the tower 233M?

This is definitely the same board I have in my system, though. One ISA slot.

It's a nice case, and a bonus that it does look standard atx. I'm delighted to have my hands on another working Riva 128 and Ensoniq AudioPCI, as bad as it was.

WOrst case scenario is I can put a more modern motherboard/power supply and have a bit of a sleeper system if I want...

Based on the Gateway model / Intel AA #s, seems to be this one - https://www.ultimateretro.net/en/motherboards/5902

Yes that is the motherboard. Interesting that PIII is a supported cpu, I have a PIII-650 laying around without a motherboard somewhere...

The pic you linked to is a LX board which would probably be the appropriate board for a system that came with a 233, be odd if they built a 233 system and put a BX board in it but could have been the very cheap option at the time. I guess it depends on when it was made, when I think 233 - 333 I remember when they put them in those awesome full tower cases and not the later ones that have that covering bay door.

edit: The case with the bay door cover might be the G5 I'm thinking of.

For what it's worth it detected and supported my Pentium III 550 just fine. Even has a port on motherboard for CPU fan. The fan shroud for the Pentium 2 is extraordinarily brittle, it's in several pieces now. Looking at printing a replacement for it should I ever wnt to revert to the P2/233
