first I love VOGONS

interleave is for old hdd with very slow cpu, so the disk wait 1 cycle or 2 cycles before send the data to slow down the process
it is not for new computers (new 368 and above)

I was testing a pentium 166mhz and a compaqflash 2gb card with ide adapter,

choose format with the bios "hard disk low level format utility"

I use "1" for interleave, but when use the "autodetect" option the analisys shown:
"1"- 1461.89KB/sec
"2"-3410.65KB/sec
"3"-1461.89KB/sec
"4"-1461.89KB/sec

how crazy is...the formatting process is faster with interleave 2
