Hi all,
I have a Teac FD-55GFR 5.25 floppy drive (1.2mb) which I purchased for a Windows 98 PC with USB mass storage support, it acts as an intrerim PC for moving data from USB to floppies/zip disks to then move to older systems.
After a minor cleanup, the Teac reads disks written on other systems perfectly fine (1.2mb disks).
- Inserting a new, un-formatted 1.2mb disk in the drive, it hangs when attempting to format via Windows until explorer crashes
- Inserting a partially written 1.2mb disk in the drive and attempting to write more files to it and it also hangs until explorer crashes
I'm fairly sure that I've used 5.25 drives on Windows 98 before so don't believe that's the issue.
The motherboard in the PC is (I believe) a Jetway 994AN-L, I do have an MS6119 which could be used instead if the motherboard is the probelm.
The Jetway appears to support 2 drives and has options in the BIOS for setting a 1.2mb 5.25 drive.
Does anybody have any thoughts on what could be the cause of this?
Thank you in advance
Jim
