It does not disconnect from the board. Need to fix a damaged wire and I can't figure out how to disconnect it.

To me that looks like HP/DELL/"OEM" power/front panel (?) OR Creative's front audio header on some X-Fi class cards and Audigy 2 ZS.

It is on a daughterboard that handles speakers and the mouse pointer on an "Ultra" branded laptop . The connector does not appear to actually be removable, it it looks like maybe the individual wires can be unpicked - but I can't see how to do that and worried about damaging it.

Yeah, you know those cheap PCB connectors where you have a plug with individual crimped pins clipped into a plastic holder, and a socket that's a barely functional frame around pins soldered to the board?

This is the cheaper alternative, there's no connector, the pins on the "plug" directly have a solid-ish point sticking out and that's soldered, a bit like omitting an IC socket...
