There is a CPU-World Discord channel, started by CPU-World members, and unofficially connected to the CPU-World forums. There is a fair amount of talk on old hardware, but most talk is related to more modern CPUs (engineering samples being a common theme) and overclocking. There is a lot of knowledge there. You would also get a first look at some sales planned for the forum by some members.

Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.
Is this channel still active ? It seems I can't find any "CPU-World" discord channel.

I like the ultimate retro, retro web discord. Their name keeps changing 🤣
Please tell me why you prefer Discord and not just a web forum?
(This has nothing with me as moderator, just personally curious)
It’s seems like certain dead old Pc forum’s have active discords
I can’t remember which ones anymore, I think even uncreativelabs once had a chatbox at one point.

-Web forum for when I feel like it should be recorded, or is already posted.
-Discord for shooting the shit and getting fast help.
-If something interesting happens on discord, I make a thread to record it.
I could make a Vogons named discord if there was interest and permission. Or if you all wanted to make one I would join.

Honestly a forum is great for long form posts, information archival and information dumps but a Discord would be nice to just chat to other like minded people about retro hardware, projects and technical issues and could also be used to share pictures and discussion related to them.

Complete agreement here. Basically the IRC/forum split of old. Hell I would still join a VOGONS IRC channel..but Discord is darned tough to ignore.
Basically, Discord is ideal for dead-drunk scenarios =P
I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.
The name alone leaves much to be desired. "disagreement between people." and "lack of agreement or harmony between things."
If I barely have time to try to contribute here why would I join a discord though then I could vent on all the crap that pisses me off ;p.
In the past did use IRC alot but times have changed being near retirement, all my spare time is toward getting things in order for that and of course helping here when I can....
Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Discord isnt for everyone but it is damn useful for shooting the shit and getting fast and dirty help, Discord also requires pretty much zero effort whereas making a forum post usually requires my attention and effort to make a presentable legible post.
I dont always hit that legibility target though 😁

I'm kind of surprised retro hardware enthusiasts even use Discord for impromptu chatting considering it likely performs worse on the older hardware they're interested in. This is in contrast to IRC which has been around for ages and still used by sizeable group of technical oriented users.
They're not mutually exclusive, I'm interested in both modern and retro computing, actually it's me that would be really surprised if we weren't a majority.
I've spent a decent chunk of my life on IRC, but no denying Discord's where it's at today, even if I'm sure some IRC channels are still going strong.
A few retro oriented Discord servers I'm in:
The Retro Web: https://discord.gg/HWWH7hsk2p
Retro Computer Discord: https://discord.gg/2sER6Ub
There are a few others that I won't share to respect Vogon's... careful public stance in regards to abandonware.
EDIT: I for one would enjoy a Vogons Discord channel 😁
EDIT2: whoops, the retro web was linked already, somewhat skipped it!

I like my retro but not enough to try and use Discord on a retro machine ...surprisingly many retro enthusiasts do actually own relatively modern hardware for such purposes, shit I wont even try to use the internet on a retro rig ..too many security issues to bother with that.
IRC is ..well you either love it or you hate it I'm in the never wanted to use it camp myself.

Indeed. To each their own but that's a thing apparently many people enjoy here that flies way up above my head. I'm nostalgic for the "old" internet and I have fond memories of it and in an unrealistic way I'd love to go back, but that's it. Going for an half-assed internet experience today on a retro rig doesn't appeal to me. In reality I just love modern QoL in general, I have many retro rigs but I don't need a mechanical HDD, I love my SSD-IDE and CF-IDE adapters, there are things I don't want to compromise on (ie: CRT) but others things I really don't care for. The recent HDD clicker is a great idea, but..meh. Again, to each their own and there's room for everyone in the hobby 😀

I too love my QOL advances .. like USB keyboards and Mice, and Nand storage devices.

You can use retro hardware on the Internet, but you probably don't want to use an unsupported retro OS to do it. I have a few machines that are probably locked out of running a newer supported Windows, but work fine with a different OS that's still maintained.
