Hi, I have an IBM 5162 XT 286 and a Evergreen Superchip upgrade with the Cyrix 486SLC.

The manual for the Evergreen Superchip recommends to replace the bios with a "generic" AMI 80386 bios that they could have provided.

Does anyone know where I can find this bios, or a 386 bios that would work in my 5162? I have tried a few different bios's I have downloaded and flashed and none work completely. Either dont POST, don't save CMOS settings, or freeze during boot.

I recommend you use the MR-BIOS for generic 286 boards. I have one in my 5162, and I really like it.

Glad to hear it works. 🙂

I suppose a 80386 BIOS is recommended due to LOADALL emulation, among other things.
That instruction is available on 80286 only, so 386 BIOSes do usually emulate it for backwards compatibility.
