So I have a Packard Bell Legend I 286 computer without a hard drive, it came with a Seagate ST07A/ST08A controller card which has an IDE connector. Can I just put in any lower capacity hard drive or does it have to be some kind of seagate drive?

Ideas, feedback are much appreciated, I'm not sure on limitations of this card.

No you can use any brand, it's a normal IDE HDD controller. Yours is the ST08A btw, the difference between ST07A and ST08A is the floppy controller.

That is excellent news, so this should allow me to use a IDE to CF card adapter pretty easily correct?
