Hello i got a vintage laptop, an HP with a Pentium 2 and Windows 98. It works ok and turns on all the times, but sometimes it hangs on in the BIOS when the HP logo appears...and freezes. Then sometimes like nothing happens, it boots normally.
For example if i turn it on 10 times, 4/10 it would freeze at the logo, right before the POST screen.
This is what i tried already:
- I did Memtest86 for over 3 hours and i got no errors.
- I also checked the HDD with HDAT and there are no bad sectors or other problems
- I also tried another power supply but it's the same.
- I also updated the BIOS......same!
The CMOS battery expired but i doubt that would be the problem.
When it turns on works flawlessy and i got no BSOD or errors. I still haven't formatted the HDD but i don't think this would be the problem, since it freezes randomly at boot's HP logo. Any advice ?
I don't know what to think Thanks
