Good afternoon,

This is my first post on this forum, I appreciate any knowledge or guidance in advance.

I just found a Quantex PC from the mid 90s, looks like it was equipped with a Pentium II. It seems pretty large with 4 bays and a floppy drive, I am assuming it's a full ATX tower.

Before I try to work on it, I realize that I have no idea where to find a new shell/side panel/plates for a tower like this. The fact that I don't even know what it's called does not help either. Short of purchasing a different (and expensive) old PC to use as a donor I am a bit stumped on where to begin.

Are modern ATX panels compatible, if I were to buy a new white case? I have attached a photo of the tower.

Have a nice day!

AFAIK, no they are specific and nornally not interchangeable. It also looks that it's a very early ATX case as the lateral panel design is similar to AT ones. Good luck!

If it was mine, knowing that I would never find the shell in the wild. I would buy some sheet metal and bend my own to fit the case and spray paint it white. Of course I wouldn't be able to replicate all of the tabs that hold it on. But I bet I could do a good enough job that if its just sitting on a desk or a floor, it would be good enough.

I could also wood grain the outside instead of painting it like LGR 486 and It would just look custom.

There may be some that can be exchanged but usually that's not the case (no pun intended 😀 ).
Is it really so hard to find cheap ATX cases where you live?
