I have acquired a km400a mb that does not power on. however if i force power i get a repeating 2 tone, higher and lower pitch. never come across that before. any idea what it means. happens with and without ram and cpu fan.

yes its ami. will try a different fan. caps all look good and no burn marks.

If the +12v rail is good then it must be failing post and shutting down ~ caps "looking good" means nothing really ...what do you mean by 'forcing power"?
