Has anybody ever restored or re-applied IC labels? I have this daughterboard that had brownish lettering on the main IC (probably because of heat) and it partially rubbed off while cleaning it. This kinda annoys me and I wondered if I can re-apply such a label myself. Would creating a custom stamp and using some kind of paint do the trick?

You rubbed off the text that is directly on the ic?
I know that this could happen but i have only seen it on fake ICs.

Was it just paint?

Maybe you can print a lable for it wich covers the whole chip.

Recreating super tiny letters by hand is not fun.

Do you have a picture of the chip?

This one. I guess the paint? was heated when the daughterboard was mounted on the sound card. It was hanging above a DSP. Recreating the text/label in software isn't the problem but I never applied something like this.
