Hey all,
I've managed to pick up an old 1688F clone sound card and want to try to get it working in an old 486.
I've tested this card in two different ISA slots and come up with the same result for both. Using ESS 1688 drivers I've installed from here, it complains that it does not find an ESS 688/1688/1888 card. This does seem to be a slightly obscure variant of the card, but I'm hoping it's not the card being dead.
One thing that did cross my mind is it's not jumpered correctly for my machine. I was hoping to put it on either IRQ 5/7 as I would expect these to cause the fewest compatibility issues. Having said that, I cannot for the life of me find a board layout that matches the board I have so I'm not sure even if this board is jumpered correctly to work. I'm hoping somebody might be a little more familiar with this that might be able to point me in the right direction?
