I got an IBM Thinkpad T23 with Pentium III-M 1.13GHz, 256Mb IBM/Micron SDRAM, an IBM TravelStar IDE HDD and S3 SuperSavage with 16Mb SGRAM.

Trying to install Windows on her was pretty problematic - the partition table would get corrupted when the Setup program tried to format the drive, but formatting the drive on a Dell I have solved the issue.

The trackpoint is... not dead, but it does not function as expected either. Only moves vertically and jumps a little up or down when touched, but not the way a trackpoint is supposed to work.

It's also... a bit sluggish, especially compared to my Compaq Deskpro 2000 with Pentium II 300MHz.

Upgrading the controller firmware and the BIOS is also impossible, because that would require a charged up battery, and the battery has been dead for a long time.

I would assume this is just the way the Pentium III-M works, except my Dell Latitude C800 with a 850MHz CPU, same amount of RAM and same HDD performs much better.

Am I missing something?

We you to run Win-2000-pro on these old IBM Thinkpads.

I'm running Win98SE on it.
