So, i've reformatted this old PC to replace Windows 10 with XP. It had a 500GB hard disk, so i created a separate partition of 128GB because from what i've heard XP tends to have problem with partitions larger than 256GB. Anyway, that's not the problem.
Basically the audio doesn't work, and it seems strange because in the past, when WINXP was firstly installed, it worked. Maybe it doesn't have a plug-n-play integrated audio chip, so... I've made some photos, but it seems that the audio chip is the Realtek logo one. Sadly i can't manage to understand which driver is the right one for it. I hope the photos can explain something.

You're right about the make, Realtek alright. But the IC you photographed wasn't the audio codec. 😉

It looks like you have a Gigabyte P43-ES3G board, which contains the ALC888 codec. Try this one:
https://www.realtek.cz/download-ALC888-sound- … wsXP-32bit.html

Or download from Gigabyte:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-P43-E … pport-dl-driver

Oh, and for installing XP, use SP1 version or higher, that should address the 137GB limit.
The RTM version can't handle big HDDs.

i386 16 ⇒ i486 DX4 100 ⇒ Pentium MMX 200 ⇒ Athlon Orion 700 | TB 1000 ⇒ AthlonXP 1700+ ⇒ Opteron 165 ⇒ Dual Opteron 856

Ok, it worked, but now everytime i restart the PC it ask me to install a driver for "Audio device for High Definition Audio Bus". I've tried to give it the realtek WDM folder driver, but it doesn't work.

@SavageKurtain: You are using a Gigabyte MB in LGA775 and DDR2 era. Gigabyte is one of the biggest MB manufacturer and has a comprehensive product database (all the way back to Socket 5 models), complete with drivers, BIOS, specs, manuals, compatibility lists, etc. You really should download them all before reinstalling your system.

No worries, i'm not going to reinstall it. I've downloaded the drivers shown in the first post and they worked. I will check the Gygabyte site and see if i can tweak it more.
