Hello 😀

I am trying to update the BIOS on an ASUS P5AB 1.06.
I downloaded the BIOS from ASUS and downloaded awdflash 8.62 and 6.6.
I am using my win9x cd to boot and then I use another cd that the bios is on.
With 8.62 it says please wait and hangs, with 6.6 it reboots 😒
Did not have time to dig into it, the cmos battery is dead if that could be a problem?
Also did the mod to use K6+ CPUs before trying to update the bios.
The current bios is 1010, I think that is the original. I am using a K6-2 CPU

Nope on 1010, the original is P5A-B M/B (ALi 1541/1543C), BIOS ver. 1003. 08/28/1998 AFAIK. So you are flashing the latest beta, that 1011 is a beta and use at you own risk....
To flash it you should boot clean (himem.sys only) and do not think you can do that with a win98 cd. Best with floppy drive or from a HD. Yes you should replace the battery.
Attached the Asus flasher and you need read this if you haven't: ASUS P5A-B and P5A info and help.
Does your board have onboard audio ?

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Did ASUS not update the bios on newer boards? This board has a 0028 chipset.
I know I have to use the bios at own risk, this is my 4th one I am trying to flash :p
Think I used this method on my other 3 boards
And thanks!
