Hi,

I have bought an old notebook with a 486 cpu and 4 mb ram. I would like to increase the memory to play some old games on this notebook. The motherboard requires 30 pin sipp memory ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIPP_memory ). According to the wiki article, 30-pin SIPP modules are pin compatible with 30-pin SIMM modules. Does this mean that I can buy 30-pin SIMM modules and solder little legs to them? How to find out if my motherboard support more ram? Thank you in advance for any info/help.

Further details can be found on my blog.

Yes. If you have space and a simm connector you can also go with sticking a simm module in a simm connector and sticking the simm connector pins in the sipp connector. 😀 adding a little solder to the simm connector pins will help with making contact, cause they tend to be rather thin.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.
