Hello, This is my first post, I hope I'm doing this okay.
I purchased a Compaq Portable II on eBay (I know, shipping CRT's is a crap shoot). It's listed as not booting, but I'm hopeful that it's just a shorted capacitor somewhere on the board. My question is this:

What can I purchase now to max this thing out?
I've seen other posts about CF to IDE adapters and it seems hit or miss if they work.
Is there a list of capacitors I should pick up to have ready?
The keyboard cable is frayed, is there a simple replacement I can pick up somewhere?
Is there a specific ISA card I should be looking for that will enhance the performance?
