Just a note that the latest update to OS X causes the Intel version of DosBox .74 to hang while launching for about 5 seconds. Snapped open almost instantly under 10.6.7 or earlier.

After the interface finally comes up, it does run normally. This is mostly a note to the development team if they didn't already know of the issue.

No problem here either, DOSBOX starts up instantly.

Whoops! Sorry, collector. I just clicked on the only heading that said "Macintosh". Despite that, can't figure out why the lag for me. Making it start without a preference file so it has to create a new one doesn't change anything. Hmm.

Found it. Any version of OS X, 10.6.8 or later (including Lion) must be allowing DOSBox to poll hardware it couldn't see before. If I unplug all of the extra USB or FireWire devices from my Mac, DOSBox snaps open instantly. Plug them back in, and it stalls as if it's trying to get info on a device.

So no real problem, I just have to wait a bit for DOSBox to open after it gets done polling hardware. It's likely stalling on a scanner that's turned off, but I haven't bothered to narrow it down now that I know what the general issue is.

I'm running 10.6.8, I have six USB devices plugged in, three of which use proprietary drivers, and DOSBox starts instantly.

Maybe there's a problem with the driver for one of your USB devices.

Thanks, but the devices all work fine. There are three USB dongles attached for various programs. I would bet if I unplugged those, DOSBox would start right up.
