And what does a non-"basic" one look like?

Keep in mind that all of those look like simple displays, ready to use on a circuit board. All the displays mounted on old computer cases had a small circuit that would control them using jumpers, change the speed when set to turbo mode or not, etc.

Yeah i know that those segment displays are mounted on a small pcb.. But if the segment display gets to much volt it would be dead.. That why iam looking for a new segment display, so i can replace it on my own with solder skills.

Iam looking for this segment display.. It seems they are very rare to find:

I have also the same case..

The short answer is, I can get you any display in any size, but I will need DETAILED pictures of the actual led display.

My favorite parts supplier, has 4,200 different modules. http://www.mouser.com/Optoelectronics/LED-Displays/_/N-6j73g

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

possible, but a good picture would be more useful.

Iam back on this.. Because i have almost every part for the 486 system what i need to have, and want the go starting with this 486 build. I had only the problems with that 7 segment display..
Its seems i fried some segments in that display, because they wont pop-up anymore.. What the cause was i cant really tell, but i guess i had misplaced a floppy like interface cable (but smaller) on one of them connectors..

Because its very hard to find a replacement module... I guess i could better desolder the old one and solder a new 7 segment display in..
I only really dont know the exact name of that type iam looking for.. But i guess they call it an two and an half 7 segment display..

The first segment group can only display the digit ONE (1) and the rest seems more flexibele to use.. I really want to have the same display soldered it.. I dont think others will work to..

The information:

Has 9 pins on both sides.
Brand = Sharlight
Has a number: CMF-050220D F

Does somebody know where i can order this type of segment display online..
I dont have a credit card, can only made a payment by paypal..

I have a bag full of those units, if you post a pic + dimensions of the complete unit you're trying to fix, I'll check if I have one, or at least something similar.

In my experience though no 2 cases use the same unit, they all seem to have developed their own with subtle differences.
