P.S. A pic found elsewhere on the Internet of the Logitech Mouseman Pro that I STILL use -> http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Mice-and-Pointi … ton/td-p/571534 .

Best damned ball mouse ever made, and the buttons are super-easy to push and sensitive :) I've NEVER "felt" another mouse (even the newfangled high-end gaming mice) where the buttons felt as comfortable :)

I have also been using a 3-button Logitech Mouseman mouse continually since 1998. It came with my Dell Precision Workstation 410 (dual PII-400). In the PS/2 format, it is also known as the Logitech MouseMan M-S38. Best mouse I've ever used. They were branded by Logitech, Dell, and Compaq. I also have the mouse in the serial form factor, as well as the hybrid serial-PS/2 form. The hybrid version is good for use with laptops because of the short ps/2 cable. When I needed to use a laptop which didn't have serial or ps/2 ports, I used a PCMCIA serial port card and was happy as can be. Attached is a google-acquired photo of the serial version next to the hybrid.

This is the only mouse I ever use, even today.

Same here, and agreed 1000%! 😀

The only thing that I would REALLY wish for is an optical version of that mouse 😀 Even though those mice are the BEST tracking ball mice KNOWN TO MAN, I'm sure that an optical one would be even better (smoother)... and would save me the trouble of my usual weekly "mouse guts" cleanings <grin>.

(Edit) With enough searching, I could probably find something optical that was *barely* semi-comparable... but I **DETEST** mouse wheels with a passion!

(Double edit) Hehe, I rather like that black one in your picture... would help to hide all of the crud on my current white (or, I should say, "yellowed") one 🤣!

You could always perform some surgery. Take the shell of your mouseman, and implant the guts from an optical mouse. Just connect the mouseman's microswitches to the new logic board to retain the genuine feeling of the buttons.

I have honestly thought about that before <grin>. The thing is, I think it would be a real bi#$% to get everything "alligned" properly.

Hehe, that being said, I posted a reply in this message thread -> http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Mice-and-Pointi … tton/m-p/571534 <grin> 😀

This is why I don't use special promotional items like your Duke mousepad. They are basically irreplaceable unless you are prepared to wait for years and spend a whole lot of money when one finally does appear for sale someplace. Items like that are for saving not using.

That really wasn't the point. I was simply saying that it was quality mouse pad, and had served me well for 15 or so years 😀

But, like I posted, I dug out my brand new Myst mouse pad... and hopefully I'm good to go for another 15 🤣!
