I've got a malfunctioning S3 Trio32 PCI graphics card, and I was wondering if there's any objections to me just sticking it in the (appropriate electronics waste management™) bin.

The card works, the system boots when it's inserted, but there's glitches abound. In text modes, the background colour is filled with green squares that flicker and change as the text changes. In graphics modes, there's vertical lines down the screen. It's pointless for me to keep it, but is there any reason why I shouldn't chuck it?

I would desolder the RAM chips (they might be compatible with cards like Trident 8900C and CL GD5428) and VGA connector and throw everything else in the garbage... 😀 S3s are boring, not much to feel bad about.

It's possible there's just a cracked solder joint somewhere. You could try reflowing the joints if you want to bother. Removing the RAM chips is more difficult but if you have much interest in them they could be worth saving for other hobby type things.
