Of course I won't buy this board only, But I can find like this one a little distance to my home. (a compaq ProLiant 1200)

Is this good for a retro PC part? DOS with himem.sys, EMM386.exe, an Audician 32 and play doom2.

not really. old server boards usually require special cases. The hp kayak series are NEAT looking boxes. I'd look for an non-oem board to be honest.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

It's got AGP, PCI, and ISA, Slot 1 processor, that's about all you'll need go for it.

i'm not kidding when I say they HP Kayak series workstations were PIMP. The one above is reasonably priced, runs the awesome slot 2 xeon chips. (slot 1's on steroids basically)

now that i'm looking I might just buy that one I linked... use it as my dos/mac file server.
