Hi!

First of all say I'm not a musician or professional, just a user who cares the world midi oriented retro video games ( Sharp X68000 , Pc games Lucars Arts , Doom, etc, etc).

In a few days I get a module Roland SC- 55ST http://www.tokaimusic.com/product.detail_2402 … _180093?lang=en
http://www.tokaimusic.com/product-th-24027-18 … N+JAPAN%29.html

The point is that this module Roland SC- 55ST is the version WITHOUT front keypad or dispaly the famous Roland Sound Canvas SC- 55mkII http://www.tokaimusic.com/product-en-24027-18 … aoke+use!!.html

The options in the Roland Sound Canvas SC- 55mkII like Initialize the module in GS or GM mode and the "Select map MT -32 " on the top option " should " exist for Roland SC- 55ST , but lacking the SC- 55ST both front keypad and display as they could not use those options.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Sound_Canvas

The question is , is there any chance u operative use these 3 options in this module Roland SC- 55ST ?

Or directly has no chance to modify those parameters ( use only as alone as GM or GS or only as MT -32 ) ?

I hope someone knows the subject more than me and about this question.
Thank you very much !

hm, most likely some SysEX message is needed to change banks to the MT-32 set , I checked the manual and the 55ST does have the MT-32 bank... I am sure some knowledgeable person will post more info on this, it's interesting....

edit: just checked with my SC-55 , get the "db50xg-bank127-mt32_mid.zip" posted here: DOS/win utilities to get the most out of MIDI hardware? , play it and it will setup the mt-32 bank until you reset/power-cycle

On my SC-55ST I tend to use gsplay to switch modes, works great:

gsplay mt32
gsplay gm
gsplay gs

Awesome!!!

You use your GsPlay under pure DOS?
It can be used under DOSBOX?

Thnx!

Yes!

It works!
The only thing, sometimes I do not notice the difference between GM, GS and MT32.
But it seems to work!

(Too bad our Roland SC-55ST is NOT display): (

Is there any application that shows a graphic equalizer when running the Roland SC-55ST?
Thank you again!

edit: use the attached simple DOS mode player

In my case I am not testing with SC-55ST (I hope they send me) right now I'm experimenting with my Roland SC-88 and it seems that everything works fine.

it's the same when it comes to MT-32 emulation... here is another way: http://www.houseofsynth.com/roland-gs-general … version-utility , perhaps better since it's a Roland mid specialized for GS hardware (tested with MU80 , it does not really like it 🤣 🤣 🤣 )

The best I can think is TMIDI player under windows (English translation posted here: There's this midi player in english language? by rfnagel) but it's just a player...

Ok.
I know and use (the best player).
It would be interesting to exist as a graphic equalizer plugin (and always would work it work the midi).
