Because I have a Pentium 4 at 1.7 Ghz and my frame rate is horrid in some places (90+ fps down to 30, not really smooth.).

There are better Pentium IVs, Northwoods are nice 😀
but even the nicest CPUs will get choked by the overdraw from lookup table use, since your fps dips may involve smoke from napalm, or steamy areas, glass or so.

Looked some up on Ebay, why the hell are they all from Hong Kong or China 😠 Just hope I get better FPS, just in 640x480.
EDIT: anyway thanks, found a cheap 2.8 Ghz one for 10 Dollars, from Hong Kong though.
