Seems someone planned a build a long time ago...

How much RAM can that baby take? I'm taking a wild guess at 2gb??

$6.50 off ebay, works fine. No performance tests yet, just basic functionality tests. Popped it in my AMD K6-III/550 machine, came on fine and went through some basic dos test software just fine, even ran a color palette test and it went fine.

That vga connector is a little rusty. Where's it been stored, under the sea? 😀

No idea, but I don't care. It was cheap and it works perfectly fine.

Good deal on that ET6000, just clean the connector and you are set.

It's just surface rust, I can probably clean it with a little sand paper later.

It's no big deal, but I often wonder how that happens. Fair enough I sometimes suck the end of my USB stick, but I don't suck the VGA port on my graphics card.

Low-quality metal and a fairly humid room don't always mix well.

Do the Tseng ET-6000's run faster with 4 RAM chips? Anybody ever see those upgrade chips loose?

Yes max is 2 GB but I am not sure if I need ECC memory if I go over 1GB or if 4 normal 512mb modules will work.
The card is still at the post office but I will pick it up tomorrow if I get home early enough.

And for those who had questions about what OS this system will run, it will run Windows 2000.
When it comes to CPUs I will probably see if I can get a couple of Coppermine 1000@750+ CPUs on slotkets to play nice.
The board does have a hidden 133 MHz FSB option but I doubt it is stable.

Hey Artex, Iv got one of those Gravis Gamepads, how good are they and what games are good to play with it? I used to play Midtown Madness and Motocross madness with it as a kid, but those are the only kind of games I can imagine playing with it.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

These controllers are very basic... And I mean VERY. No fancy schmancy vibration or anything else that current controllers have. BUT, it definitely beat using the keyboard for platformers like Commander Keen, Jazz Jackrabbit, etc. It was also ok for fighting games like Rise of the Robots, Mortal Kombat, etc. For racing games I actually preferred using the keyboard... But that's just me. 😀

Some racing games play fine with a keyboard; the "ricer" era Need for Speed games, for example, are no better with a wheel than they are with a keyboard. You definitely can't play a racing sim properly without a wheel though.

Got this odd Geforce 3 ti200 64mb.

file.php?mode=view&id=15947&sid=e1acf41851beeb383f1eda77d6fdd77d

Punny little cooler which should justify why it has by default lower clocks than a standard Gf3 ti200.

Works perfectly fine nonetheless.

You do know those Compaq V3 3500's without the TV tuner are pretty common right? There's a seller on ebay who's had hundreds of them for sale for a few years now. There's not a lot of reason to hoard those.

I've only ever seen 3500s with the TV tuner on ebay. When I search now I only see ones with the TV tuner and missing the blue cable/box.

Got any links?

Here's where I got mine:

Kind of a generic search, but the keyword "Compaq" is key as it denotes the 5.5ns / 183Mhz Compaq OEM cards. You can see the Compaq sticker on these.
