Bottem right..

The boys in the white coats will be around very shortly 😉

I found this board in my attic, apparently I own a HX board 😁
- So I decided to populate the RAM slots 🤣

Do I need some kind of TAG RAM now?

Edit: I think it's this one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/W24129AK-12-Cache-TAG- … 8-/290441623465

Congrats, I remember you wanted a HX board!

I have the same one in my main retro system, it's a really solid board. IIRC, this revision doesn't support anything faster than 200 MHz and the voltages needed for newer CPUs without modification, but the 200 MMX is the perfect match for me anyway.

Yes, 16k x 8 is right I think. It needs to be identical size and speed to the one already installed. I've tried a 32k x 8 and it failed to boot.

Also, there's some more info on the board here: http://www.amoretro.de/2012/03/gigabyte-ga-58 … rboard-pci.html

That's interesting... ASUS P/I P55T2P4 accepted both 128-12 and 256-15 modules I tried to throw at it.

Do you have a thread about your 586HX system on vogons?

Yeah, I do! Forgot all about it:
New (to me) K5 box

I've since upgraded to a 200 MMX since the K5 was really slow in some games (Blood, for example). Not as cool as the K5 but works just better.

Yeah, the Asus works with 32k x 8. The 586HX however has a directly soldered on 16k x 8 side-by-side and therefore needs one of identical size.

Just arrived boxed (but not NEW and SEALED like eBay seller wrote...) the Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro USB, for my Win9x gaming rig - I hope to have some Freespace / other space-sim awesomeness soon 😎

Bought another K6-III+ 400 ATZ, being sure that this one would clock to 600MHz. Yeah, that didn't happen, much like my spare one it can only do 550MHz. Just my luck 😵 .

There is a reason AMD stopped at 570 MHz 😀

I did manage to run at 600 MHz but only with a lot of voltage, and all I did was run a few benchmarks. Wasn't worth the trouble.

There's so many people running them at 600MHz that I just think I'm unlucky on this front. It's a 50MHz difference on a CPU that doesn't really scale well beyond 400MHz, but my OCD demands these 50MHz 🤣 .

It's sad to fry these cpus for a job that normally a Duron can do 😉

Okay? I suppose this is pointed towards me?

Nope, it's pointed at "useless overclocking" in general.
Please don't take it personal 🤣

Just found in the dumpster one full (crappy) midi case model 'Nokia', very common here years ago... inside:

- motherboard ECS Elitegroup K7S5A
- 2x256mb DDR266 RAM
- Athlon XP 2100+ (square core: Palomino?)
- 3xHDs (6 + 4 + 40gb) IDE
- Riva TnT2 M64 32mb AGP
- LAN Adapter PCI
- heatsink 'QTEK'

Tonight some testing...

It has been a while, had other priorities (getting my MSc, baby daughter, etc). Some 'new' stuff:

A bunch of Coppermine PIII S370 (5 euros):

Abit BH6 with PIII 450 and some memory:

A Sound Blaster 16 (CT1740), 7 euro incl. shipping. Happy with this one, I think it's the same as I had once in (my fathers) 486. I just hope it works 😀 :

Nice stuff! Especially the BH6! Abit boards are awesome.
Good luck with that Sound Blaster 16.
I had the newer one for all the games on the P166 😀 Good Times!

I just won these "untested" CPUs

They look good from this side... no picture of the pins... I kind of expect I have to do some work...

SX-25_K62-450_DX2-66_P100.JPG

As long as the DX2-66 works Im reasonably happy, I need to find one that will do 96 MHz 😎.
I kind of want the P100 to work aswell as the one I have has really really bent pins.
With my luck they will all work except for the DX2-66 😜 The lot was 7.5 euro + 5 euro shipping.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.

Went dumpsterdiving today. Got three items.

Some sort of Radeon x-something-55-something PCI-E. Have no use for it, just grabbed it.
(can allways make an give-away here on Vogons)

250gb Seagate SATA HDD. Dusty. Hope it works, as it can be downgraded with Sea-Tools.
Finally an ATX Psu. Hope it work's as it could be nice for my Sempron-3000+ Win98 build.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....
