Hey guys,

Need a recommendation on a PCI sata card capable of RAID 1 that'll work fine for windows XP. Got two 80GB SATA drives I want to RAID for some general storage in the retro rig since I don't currently have a file server.

I used a Highpoint RocketRaid 1740, has 4 internal SATA ports, XP drivers and reasonable performance in RAID0 with WD 1TB Blacks. Also tested this card with a JBOD setup OK.

Another machine was based on a RAID0 setup under XP on an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe, which uses a Silicon Image 3112 chipset.

As RAID0 worked OK on both of these setups, I would imagine that RAID1 would also be fine.

Sil 3114 based cards are massively and inexpensively available in ebay (~10 USD shipped). I have no idea about the overall quality of those cards, but I can say I was happy with my on board Sil3114, while I was using it for some time in RAID 1 configuration.
