Just a fun little post about a couple items I found online.
The first I think would be funny to have in any system....

The second I am thinking about trying out....

Card reader would be useful for file swap if you have no USB possible.. maybe? I have a ton of cards 🤣

Just a few random bits that maybe might be fun to add in somewhere.

Most of those floppy+card readers connect everything by USB, even the floppy drive, so if you don't have USB then you'll be out of luck! It looks like that one uses an actual floppy interface, but it will only be for the drive. You'll need USB for the card reader.

The 5.25" drawer is of course only useful if your PC is within reach - if yours is mounted in a rack on its side, then you have to get out of your chair to open the drawer and then the contents will fall out, so it may end up being funnier than you think 😉

If you look at the pictures, you can easily see the floppy cable connector on the back, so it does connect to a regular floppy controller - which isn't exactly a good thing, as it it were USB I could use it with my modern PC to write old floppies to my retro machines, or backup old floppies I have.
A beige version of those drawers could be awesome for old AT/ATX cases with missing bay covers. You could turn the holes into something useful!

Indeed they would be cool to have, those item. If you are using USB stuff for you'r retro needs.
I however have no need for any USB devices at all, when it comes to retro activity.
I go for PS/2 devices, optical media and stuff like SATA/PATA converters instead.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

As I was totally not paying attention to the USB hookup, I wanted it to be a card reader that used the floppy port.

I am ashamed to admit it. 😢

I have one of those Syba drives and they are great. You can back up your files without having to worry if you have the right type of memory stick. It saves you money, too, since you can buy whichever memory stick format is on sale because it's compatible with so many.

I love the drawer! Very cool.

as for the floppy card reader combo drive....Most of them I see have the floppy connector. Depends what you'd want to use it in but I prefer having the usb connector in windows build to keep the fdd connector on my motherboard free for another fdd.

For transfer you could try one of these smartmedia or memorystick to floppy adapters.

They are slow but work. Back in the day i used these to transfer files from digital cam to pc.

Once you factor shipping and import charges (thanks GSP!!!!) it amounts to.... US$99,65! Why can't China provide those things?! xD

@dogchainx - nice find.

The beige ones are pretty cool but yes they are way too expensive.

Those fluorescent yellow and orange ones are just ridiculously ugly though! Lol.
