Can you test the voltage of the battery?

Watch those PRAM batteries. I just lost one of my tray-loaders because the battery burst and spewed gloop all over the logic board. The machine was a spare and hadn't been powered on for years. I assume this isn't a danger for machines that are regularly powered on?

Is this too much voodoo?

Its sort of a hit or miss. I have a B&W mac with the original battery, hasn't been powered on in 11 years and still holds time (sort of). I used to have a power mac 9600 with a 3rd party battery that corroded the board. If you are going to buy a new battery, make sure its one with better build quality.

Ayy LMAO

Did you try and remove downgrade the ram to the original configuration?

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
