When it comes to ATI cards from this generations the Radeon X1950XTX is the card to have just like the Geforce 7900GTX is the Nvidia card to have.

The Radeon 1950XTX is really worth to add to the collection as it's the fastest single GPU DX9 card ever made! 😀

agreed , its a great card, if a little noisy. Ive actually found that apart from Doom3 and Source engine games , the X1900XT I was testing wasn't that much slower than the 7950 GX2 (it was slower, but not significantly) , while lacking all the compatibility issues the GX2 has.

Ive even ran Fallout3 at 1280X960 on the 1950XTX , can reach 60fps in alot of places .

That's all subject to each person's thoughts.. personally I've found the nvidia GTX 400 series to be the last fastest DX9 parts.. after that and starting with the 600 series, nvidia DX9 performance started to go down hill as cards got newer, at least in all my testing experience. And these cards still have native windows XP drivers so good for XP-DX9 setup. I have 3 water cooled (and big overclocked) GTX 470's, myself. But sadly different revisions as they don't all 3 work together, only 2 work together.

I think you are misunderstanding us.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.

of course in terms of raw speed a later card will be faster, including in DX9 , but the problem is compatibility hence why the X1950XTX or 7950 GX2, as they are the fastest native DX9 cards, that will run XP era games without issues.

This afternoon the package I was waiting for has arrived:

20160315_182031.jpg20160315_182042.jpg20160315_182053.jpg

My 2nd full 486, this time 486DX-33 on Unichip 486WB 4407 rev 1.1, Cirrus Logic 5428 - everything is in real good conditions, nice and clean desktop case (and sticker).

Maybe I'm seeing things but there seems to be some corrosion on the battery.

Mmmh yes, you're right! I'm checking in this moment, it is under the PSU... I'm at home now and I can check more deeply, I hope it has not damaged anything yet...

In your opinion it is a great damage to the motherboard? I've just taken out the battery, tomorrow in the morning I'll clean everything:

Hard to tell without disassembly. There are some traces that have corrosion but they might be ok. The bottom part needs to be checked to.

Fortunately booting without problems, battery not mounted a part...

Nice!! However, it's giving a keyboard error. I hope that the acid hasn't affected its traces.

Alright guys.. Not sure where this one should go, but I've posted this kinda thing here last year (Re: Bought these (retro) hardware today) and the year before, and the year before that! Here we go for 2016 - now organized a bit more..

!!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!!

Those with heart conditions may want to skip this post. Heart palpitations are likely, with slight dizziness and high probability of seizure.

!!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!! !!! WARNING !!!

This weekend I swapped my three 6' tables for four 24" x 48" x 72" shelving units. Now that my baby daughter arrived last Fall, half of the space is filled with baby toys so I need to start building "up" instead of "out." :p

I thought, why not take the opportunity to organize and throw up a collection update on VOGONS. Presenting... "The H0arD!" (March 2016 update!)

Enjoy my fellow VOGONS retro enthusiasts! (Not pictured: Unboxed Ad Lib Gold, IBM Music Feature Card (Boxed), Unboxed Media Vision Pro Audiospectrum 8-bit), Sealed Turtle Beach QuadZilla, and all other unboxed processors, video cards, sound cards and motherboards in the gray tubs).

Just wow all those pretty boxes 😲
As much as I would like to envy that collection but the cost had to be very high.

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

Great pics! Looks like you've got video surveillance, a good idea given how many of us here are eager to break into your basement 😁 I would love to crawl through that window, curl myself up into a ball in the middle of the room and fall asleep in this retro heaven 😁

P.S. Covox next to all the Roland gear looks like kind of a spit in its face 😁

I didn't buy it, by brother bought it for me, as a birthday present.

It's a BFG FX 5900, sadly not the ultra but I appreciate it all the same, and from what I know this card pretty much can always run at 450 Core and the memory is already at 850 like the Ultra. I should have it monday 😁
