Hi first of all sorry, it has been a really long time since I last posted a thread here on the forum, but alas, have had a couple of years now where I have been working extremely long hours at the office, so haven't had much time up until recently for anything but work 🙁
I have a question please about AWE64 Gold soundfonts that can be used with the 28MB memory upgrade, for example, Chorium and others that can go up to the full 28MB limit, etc.
The thing I seem to be experiencing with my AWE64 Gold is, the 8MB soundfont works great, GM Reset works great with it, and everything sounds fine. I have the genuine AWE64 proprietary memory upgrade, not the 3rd-party memory upgrade, so I was rather surprised that when I uploaded the Chorium soundfont, everything seems to work great at first when the soundfont is initially loaded, but over time as multiple songs are played, the instruments start sounding wrong and other unpredictable behavior occurs.
Also, and significantly, GM Resets do not work with Chorium -- the only way to get the Chorium soundfont to work properly after the instruments start sounding off is to manually re-apply the soundfont using the Apply button in the Creative AWE Control Panel, which can take up to a minute or longer each time the Apply button is pressed.
I don't understand why GM Reset works for the 8MB soundfont, but not for the Chorium soundfont? (Since GM Reset works fine for the 8MB soundfont, I would hope that my 28MB memory upgrade hardware itself is not broken or defective?)
Anyone who could kindly please provide any feedback or guidance would be greatly and most deeply appreciated, thanks!
(I am using the Van Basco MIDI player for all testing of MIDI files using the Chorium soundfont.)
