This CPU is from an IBM PC-330, and has a heatsink glued on top of it.
The only clue I have, is the markings on the back. No search has given any result.

Does anyone here know what DX2-66 version this is?

DX-66? I thought the 50 was the fastest DX. I firmly believe this to be an DX2-66 and not DX.
I could be wrong though...

No, it's definitely a DX2-66. I don't know which version though.
Have you checked CPU-World to look for pics of similar chips?

Yeah.... It really confuses me. As I can't really see if the size of the golden plate means WB or WT cache.
It looks a bit like something in between, I am just not shure what to make out of it.

Looking at the pictures on amoretro, the plates size on my DX2 is somewere between WT and WB.

This is the closest I can get to it....

This is the place to ask if you want a CPU identified:
http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O

I have a SX911 &E5V1X that is very similar to that one. Mine says: 8514246FCB/A4/GR 24. Also marked i66, but the diagonal golden trace/line/whatever that marks pin 1 is a bit shorter. The plate size is the same.

^this.

It's also a good place to buy CPUs, I got some lovely chips from there 😀

Hmmm... Took my chances regarding this CPU.
I firstly installed it as a standard dx2-66 cpu, and the board would not read any bootable media.
When running as a P24D, it would not go past the mem count.

I guess this is a defect standard Dx2.

I only see its a 5volt version.. The 5volt version uses a bigger gold plate on the back.. The 3.3 volt version have a smaller gold plate on the back..
Processors with heatsink attached, mostly are older cpus.. Newer ones mostly used re-moveable
heat sinks or heatsinks with attached fan.
Also think its a write Through one, cause Write back versions came later on the market. In 1992 there where not Write back cpus available.
So your cpu can be used on 5 volt style motherboards without an VRM installed.

~ At least it can do black and white~

Apologies for the typo. Of course, i meant DX2.

No Probs... 😀

When thinking a bit, I think I have tried to get this CPU running some 6 months ago without result.
Hence me, keeping it in the closet and forgetting that I ever did that.

The question now... Can a WT 486dx2 take damage when being run as an WB chip?
If so. Then I have most likely killed it in the process of figuring out what the CPU is.

i seriously doubt so... but sometimes they just die. Nothing lasts forever.

Thanks. 😀 I just had to know if I have done some potentially bad. 🤣
I think this CPU will go into the jar with gold scraps.
I collect gold from dead hardware, and when it's full, I will play with acid.
