So i have a very late model IBM 5170 AT.
Trying a 4.3gb Quantum Fireball and a 420mb Conner IDE drive along with a Future Domain enhanced IDE controller (with its own BIOS).
So the problem i'm having is that during boot, I'll get the Future Domain BIOS message, and it'll detect IDE channel 0 at IRQ 15, but then it won't detect any devices connected to that channel - it'll just hang.
I've tried
- removing every card in the system but the controller and the video card and NIC. Oddly enough, the Future Domain card doesn't seem to be recognized if I REMOVE my 3com etherlink 3 (pnp ISA NIC, weird I know). If i leave the NIC in the system, it sees the IDE controller. If i take it out, it doesn't see it at all.
- booting into the IBM setup disk and configured it for Floppy operation only, no fixed disks installed.
- trying both drives. both are set to master, and the IDE cable is keyed properly.
- on the controller, I've tried every single IRQ/IO/Base Address configuration without any luck
I'm ready to throw in the towel.. any idea what I should do next?
