Hi,
i bought old Fujitsu SCALEO HOME SERVER without drives and searching for original recovery media.
Why not have some fun and play XP era games with NAS server? 😀
I contacted local Fujitsu support without success. They don't have any media or support for this machine. Looks to be a SCALEO line is totally unsupported now. And complete disappeared from Fujitsu website. I don't know why.
"Scaleo Home Server" is a rebranded INTEL Entry Storage System SS4200-E HELENA ISLAND (or SS4200-EHW) with printed Fujitsu logo. The main difference is a software equipment and Fujitsu strings in BIOS. System have original Windows Home server licence sticker.
Windows Home Server is a very late XP/2003 based OS. It is probably latest descendand of NT5/W2000 line. A specially cut-down version of 32bit Win Server 2003 for NAS usage.
"Home Server" was short-lived OS unsupported by Microsoft from end of 2012 year, long before XP nor real Windows Server 2003.
Fujitsu SCALEO Home Server is a x86 based machine: Intel board and 945GZ chipset, Core2solo/Celeron singlecore CPU (slower compared to latest Pentium4), 1x 1GB DDR2 DIMM, 4x SATA from ICH7R + 2x eSATA from SIL chip. Internal IDE connector is used for 128/256MB DOM module/SSD drive. Megabytes, not gigabytes.
Internal GMA950 VGA from 945GZ chipset is not connected. It si only NAS server without graphic output. The only output is serial console from BIOS/textmode and web interface from windows. But inside is one short PCI-E 1x slot.
Fot tests i have internal 80GB drive and external USB CD-ROM. And PCI-E 1x to PCI-E 16x riser card with Radeon HD3400 card. With external card i finally have output to monitor.

Why i need original Recovery media? Original HDDs were lost. I tried clean install but i still have problems. I downloaded drivers from Intel website but...
Intel sold two versions:
SS4200-EHW - without IDE DOM module: windows complete installed to HDD
SS4200-E - with IDE DOM module: not windows, only linux-based NAS storage system software booting from internal flashdrive module.
But Fujitsu version used window with internal DOM for unknown reason. There is WIndows recovery envirovement preloaded but it can't be rerovered without Recovery partition from lost HDD.
I downloaded Windows Home Server ISO image. It was very hard to find. All links were dead. And most links were to Win Home Server 2011, which is totally different OS based over Windows Vista/Server2008. Of course i can't use it because different licence key. A tried 64bit OS was very slow with this CPU.
I tried trial version of right Windows Home Server, drivers from Intel website and all updates but there is no chance to activate trial version with original product number from sticker.
Ok, i spent many hours and finally found ISO with Windows Home Server 2003. I updated all to latest version. Home Server Power Pack 3, Framework, all Windows updates. And later i succesfully changed language with Czech MUI. OS was finally activated with original product key.
For some fun when i used NAS machine for trying some old games and for web browsing with Mozilla.
After "gaming" i want try use machine as NAS as was designed.
But i still have problems:
1. Hardware monitoring from intel website still not work (not worked with trial Windows too)
2. server management not work too. I don't know why, probably after some windows update. It is main problem because machine is unusable as NAS server.
Please is chance to get Recovery media? English or German.
And if not, is chance to get RAW image of HDD created by by DD or HDDRawCopyTool? Of course product number will be changed to original from sticker after clone.
Please can comeone help me? It is unsupported oem version of unsupported computer with unsupported operating system.
Please sorry for my poor English.
