Just because I wanted to try something new today, I tried installing a 20gb barracuda drive in my ibm pc340, p100. The BIOS only sees 8gb of it.
The bios appears to have no hdd settings in it at all, save a "compatible" or "enhanced" mode. It detects whatever it wants. No idea if it's using CHS or LBA, no settings for it. No ability to drop down a menu or select a drive by "type" like other bioses either.
Am I missing something? I have a factory document I found online that lists it as "EIDE". Unfortunately, no idea what spec that meant to ibm at the time. No mention of CHS or LBA. Is this a BIOS limit? Is there a newer bios update with a fix?
Searching for Epson Actiontower 3000 486 PC.
