It wasn't the only weirdly shaped product they wanted to release that year:
Ah, the port-blaster. I remember reading a review of this once in a dutch computer magazine.. It was either Computer!Totaal (C!T) or Personal Computer Magazine (PCM).
I do have a lot of the older magazines still, so I will try if I can find it.
