So ..can anyone help here ?
Basically I'm trying to add usb and card reader support to a win 98se build..
The device in question is an all in one internal card reader (3.5" bay) ..with single USB 2.0 port ..
This one is of chinese origin ..and works fine under XP and above..
but of course needs drivers under win 98se.
These are rarely supplied with the unit ..and certainly I didn't get any ..
I have 2 of these units ..
one is black and unbranded ..
The other is white and branded pluscom...but they are basically the same unit..
This is how the unit is usualy described at point of sale..
'Pluscom High Speed 3.5" ALL IN One Internal Card Reader Writer 1x USB 2.0 Slot'

This is what usually descrives functionality >>

Supports high-speed (480 Mbps) & full-speed (12 Mbps) data transfer rate

Doesn't need driver in any Operating Systems (except Win98 SE)

Compliant with USB2.0 and backward compliant with USB 1.1 standards

Runs at 30MHz, built-in 480 MHz PLL

Auto detects card type

LED indicator light <<<

and yes it is designed to work with win98se ...
but they never supply drivers
'Doesn't need driver in any Operating Systems (except Win98 SE)'

so I wonder what do they expect you to do ..
write your own ?

can anyone help me here
?

You could try to open them and search the part number of the MCU chip inside (these types of card readers are usually single-chip designs) and see if you can locate drivers that way.
