Which driver for which operating system from which site exactly? Could you give a link?

Also, are you sure you have a Sound Galaxy Basic Audio 16? So FCC ID I38-MMSN813? If so it's a first generation Aztech chipset, similar to the NX Pro 16, just without Covox support. You might try NX Pro (16) drivers instead if whatever you have now if they don't work.

Also are you trying to install on a computer with DOS and not Windows?

The MMSN810 is the Sound Galaxy Basic 16, not the Sound Galaxy Basic Audio 16. Possibly that might explain your driver problems...

They both use Aztech's first generation chipset though, the difference is that the MMSN810 has the AZTSSPT0592-U10 chip and does support Covox and WSS, where the MMSN813 has the AZTSB0792-U07 chip and doesn't. If you can't find drivers specifically for it, you definitely can use the NX Pro 16 drivers as those cards are essentially identical.

Right, then try the NX Pro 16. Also, if the file is in a folder but not being found, check whether that folder is included in the PATH variable.
