Hi,

I have a Gateway 2000 with a DX/2 66 having a Phoenix BIOS. Also have a AMIBIOS laying around. Those AMIBIOS look nice on boot-up, but mine has less pins than the Phoenix. Is it possible to swap the BIOS with another with less pins?

not likely. you need to peel back the stickers and see what kind of rom it is. Unless the rom's are pin compatible AND the bios itself is compatible (rare), i wouldnt do it unless you want to fry your board or chip

the bottom chip is likely a 27c256 or 27c128, the top one looks way newer and is probably a 28 or 29 series.

Ok. Think I'll pass trying this AMIBIOS. Way too fond of the Gateway 2000 to make a chance seeing it pass away.
