It has been a very long time since I messed with 486 hardware. Im building a 486 machine and got a Tomato 4DPS motherboard with AMD 133Mhz 486 processor. I have a Diamond Stealth 64 2001 S3 PCI card for graphics.

The board will only post if the VGA card is in the first PCI slot.

Is this normal behavior?

Have seen the same thing on a few other 486 boards , but it happens only with some VGA cards ... Not all of them have this issue.
I would also like to know if it can be solved .

Did you tried only with video card or some ISA cards are installed as well? Which revision of the board do you have?

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

I have not tried any other cards as I am still collecting parts for it.

It is V2.1 of the board.
