So the VIA c3 Erza would be compatible with a SLOT 1 board with VIA Appolo pro chipset? I found one but i dont have a slotket. I have a Asus one with Appolo pro and P3b-f with Bx.

Retro rig 1: Asus CUV4X, VIA c3 800, Voodoo Banshee (Diamond fusion) and SB32 ct3670.
Retro rig 2: Intel DX2 66, SB16 Ct1740 and Cirrus Logic VLB.

Got my own C3 cpu's a few weeks back and need to test them still. But from what I understand A Samuel(2) and Ezra do not need Tualatin support, The Ezra-T and Nehemia cores do.

Whether or not you can get it working depends on the bios support and or the used slotket I guess. I don't think the cheap pga (celeron) slotkets work, you probably need at least coppermine supporting slotkets.

Here is a thread about C3 cpu's: via c3 nehemiah motherboard compatability

asus tx97-e, 233mmx, voodoo1, s3 virge ,sb16

asus tusl2-c, p3-S 1,4ghz, voodoo5 5500, live!

I have a Tu4vx S370 ( compatible) but the lack of ISA slot makes useless for old games. I fount the c3 from a mATX board but all caps in bad shape. and motherboard with physical damage. With luck i would use my vortrex 1 but the sb music is pretty bad.

I always called them "slockets". You can try with a Yamaha YMF724 pci card, i read they had pretty good DOS compatibility.

For me the Yamaha card are rare to find . Also i find a c3 600 mHZ 1.9v (100 x 6) but with bent pins. The 800 mhz one is 1.39v and 133x6.

I think it depends on the slotket in question, I have slotkets that have jumpers to be set for C3 CPUs, and others that can only be used for Intel Celeron/Coppermines or Coppermine/Tualatins.

I suprised how the c3 800 tdp is very lower than a P1. In term of power is more or less a P2 266. The setmul still useful for DOS games with the 200mhz bug Even with the vortex 1 ( the sound card minimum cpu is a p100). I would build for a "cooler" P1-P2 speed machine with a banshee to cover win95 era games.

Which slotkets have jumpers for C3 CPUs?

What really matters more is the voltage, not FSB I would think.. For Joshua/Samuel you need 1.6V, for Ezra onwards you need 1.4V and below..
