When I move the mouse around in any DOS games/program, the computer slows down by around 50%. A P3-600 will slow to 300. Even tried a 1GHZ P3 and it slows to 500mhz.
Running the real time benchmarks in NSSI and Norton Sysintem Information 8, moving the mouse halves the score, stop moving it and it shoots back up. Same with Doom, Quake etc in Phils benchmark suit. This also happens with a clean boot in Dos, with nothing loaded, not even himem.sys (to rule out any drivers, TSRs etc). The only thing loaded is the mouse driver.
The motherboard is a MSI-6156-BX7 (440BX), latest award bios V1.6. Tried every imaginable bios settings. Tried different PS2 Mice and different DOS drivers (ctmouse, mmouse, pmouse). The bios does not support USB mouse emulation, only USB keyboard emulation in Dos.
Anyone come across this before or a way I could identify what is causing it?
