Hi all,
I'm trying to make a collection of Video cards so that I can play every game imaginable on a Pc.
Trying to get a performance or high-end of each era.
I'm trying to keep the collection as small as possible so it doesn't take much space. I wanted to ask you guys if I'm missing anything.
Currently this is my collection so far:
1. Cirrus Logic - DOS and 2d
2. Voodoo 1 - Early 3D games
3. Voodoo 3 3000 - For all games with Glide
4. GeForce 4 Ti 4800 - Early 2000 games, all win98
5. GeForce 9800+ - WinXP
6. Radeon 5870 - Early 2010
7. GeForce 780 Ti
I do have other cards in my possession but I'm thinking of selling them:
Ati Rage 128 AIW, Geforce2 gts, Trident 3d blade 9880, Radeon 7000 ve, Matrox g450 pci, Radeon 9250.

What do you guys think, I've been letting go a lot of great cards on ebay since I don't want to become a collector, just want to have some nice cards for each situation.

what about modern ones? GTX2080Ti

780 ti allows me to play almost every game at 1080p at "acceptable" framerate.
the 2080 ti fits perfectly in the slot for the next gpu to add to my collection, but no way on earth i'm going to pay $1000++ that Nvidia is asking for Ray(non)tracing 😀
I have no need for an upgrade just yet, lets wait for amd

A voodoo 1 card is required to play a few DOS glide games, but a voodoo 3 is capable of playing most of them, including all the good ones IMO.

A geforce 780ti can do everything a 9800+ and a 5870 can do.

A minimum list, without compromises, would probably be:

Voodoo 1 + good 2d card
Voodoo 5500
Nvidia 4600 ti or 4800se, or fast FX cards
Gerforce 980ti (fastest for XP)
Latest and greatest video card for modern games

Considerably cheaper though, without many compromises:

voodoo 3 or voodoo banshee
Nvidia 4200 ti, as it is already stupid fast for most 98 games
AMD 5850 or 5870 (XP)
RX 480 or RX 470

You could also drop the voodoo 3 and use glide emulation and DOSbox no problem.
