Dumb Question Time.
I am building a 98 Budget PC. The motherboard I am using is a Zida 5STX (and the CPU is a Cyrix mII PR-233GP if anyone is wondering).
The manual for the 5STX has this to say about Turbo functionality:
[O] Front Panel Connector
For you convenience, all the front panel functions are integrated into a single connector, which included
power LED and keyboard lock, turbo switch, reset switch, SMI switch and speaker.
Underline emphasis by me. The header marked as O is JP10 on the motherboard, and the manual has this to say about it:
As you can see, no Turbo connectors. But the pins between 14- 26 have a lot of stuff that are unused.. So I went ahead and checked a dozen or so other ZIDA Socket 7 motherboards, and for every one of them 16-17 is the Turbo Switch, 25-26 is Turbo LED. So my understanding is that the pinout should actually be this:
So what happens if I connect the Turbo switch and LED to this board? Do you reckon they would work? Anyone know if it disables cache or something?
