So I've got the above board, I've got 4x1mb Samsung and 8x1mb generic stuff with to chips 30pin Simms.

The Samsung works fine and detects all 4mb, but if I try to go over 4mb the capicity goes down, and if I use all 8 generics with to it shows as 3.2mb of ram.

What am I missing or do I just have 8 bad sticks of ram.

Hmm seems a lot of members have had issues with Soyo 25 series boards during the last 6 months. Did you run Memtest with those 8 sticks ?
In the BIOS you may have to set the RAM amount and also check the ram shadowing as it can be autoset when certain amounts are included (and use too much). Cannot recall exactly but seems one had issues similar and it was a BIOS setting. Did you search here for Soyo 25 ?

So I got that working, swapped Simms until I found bad, turns out 2 are bad, now it sees 8mb of ram which for a 33mhz should be plenty. Plus 4mb Simms seem hard to fine and 4x16mb seems excessive

Good job ! yeah 4 x16mb would be nice but unnecessary 😁
