Looking for a newer bios file for the SY-5EMA+ V1.1.
Google hasn't found any sites that have any bios files to download.
I found a site that listed bios revisions, the was newest it had listed, "01/06/2000-VP3-586B-8669-2A5LES2BC-00."

If any one knows if this mobo supports any of the K6-III+ or 3 mobile?
The manual for the v1.1 has the K6-3 400 and 450 listed in supported cpus, my guess its only the AFR and AHX models.
I have tried a K6-III+ Mobile 450ACZ, the mobo did not post with it. My feeling is, as this chip was release in 2000 that the newer bios is needed.

I believe that these are the two most recent BIOSes for your board . Source : https://web.archive.org/web/20040327042549/ht … dl/bios/586new/
One of them is newer than the one that you found a reference to .

The BIOS from 2000 that you are referring to is actually for the 5EMA (without the +) . For some reason likely known only to someone at Soyo, the 2A5LES2BC board ID is shared between the Soyo SY-5EMA and Soyo SY-5EMA+ . The correct BIOS for the Soyo SY-5EMA+ is 5EMPVEA1.zip .

This site has the BIOS. It also confirms the board should work with K6-III(+) CPUs.

Other than that I recommend using web.archive.org to browse old images of the manufacturer's website if you're having problems finding BIOS or documentation for old hardware.👍
Cheers!😃

Thanks to Darry and Doornkaat. I was able to get a few of them downloaded.

@ Darry, From the two you posted, the second one i found was linked to the v1.0 of the mobo.

I had used web.archive on soyo old site. My luck was none of the download links would work.

Happy that this board worked as my FIC VA503+ quit posting. only beeps when no mem is installed.

Those of you who do so well searching the internet archive ought to post a page detailing how you do it.

Unfortunately Jan's link goes to the now long defunct Soyo site.

Dang, you're right. I'm on my phone so I didn't check.
Anyway, we can find the file name of that BIOS so just put it into your search engine of choice and often enough you'll find the file archived somewhere.👍

I've never had the best of luck with way back machine when it came to file downloads. I had look in oct and dec, those also went to the defunct soyo site.

Until now the only site i could find any sort of file name for the bios was what i had posted in the beginning.
In the picture was the only ref i could find using the the mobo name model.

The archive.org link that I posted in my first post in the thread has working downloads for BIOS files .

Here it is again, for your convenience : https://web.archive.org/web/20040327042549/ht … dl/bios/586new/

EDIT : 01/06/2000-VP3-586B-8669-2A5LES2BC-00 pretty much matches up with 5EMA1DA1.BIN . This BIOS seems to be for the SY-5EMA , not the SY-5EMA+ , as mentioned before .

Thanks for everyones' input. I wasn't having much luck in finding any thing for the bios for this board.

Happy to say, that the 5EMPVEA1 worked and the the K6-III+ Mobile 450ACZ is posting with no issues.
Made a back up copy of the original bios as well.

LuckyTech also did this somewhat. I just happened to have a copy of both the Rev C BIOS and the newer Rev D BIOS and both read 2A5LESHDC. The only differences I know on both are:

-sign on message (don't remember exactly but the Rev D had a longer sign on message than Rev C)
-EPA logo changes to the standard yellow Energy Star logo found on newer mobos (Rev C has the usual EPA Pollution Preventer text under it)
-Rev D supports drives over 64 GB, up to 128GB (or 137GB probably as that's the max LBA28 limit afaik)
