Nah, not useless. You can replace the microcontroller with something like a Pro Micro to use it with a modern computer. You're essentially taking the rows and columns lines from they keyboard PCB and remapping all the keys to what you want them to be. You'd obviously need to make a breakout connector though.

I don't plan on using it, I just have a thing for terminals. 😉
