I know this may be sacrilege to some, but Im asking it anyway...

If you have retro (but not super old) parts in a modern case (Athlon 64 and a Core2Quad) and you want to light it up, are led light strips an option or do they require 4 pin RGB connectors? Is there another way to connect them?

If not light strips, would 3-Pin Led Fans be the only other choice...

Thanks for the info.....I like Retro parts in a modern case. I spent so much time cable managing it, I wanna light it up just because...

For those that have their own power / plug, what is best practice to install in a case and still get the power cable out so you can plug it in?

I just use RGB led light strips that have a molex adapter on them. There are also some that are powered by USB. (use a female USB header to female USB-A connector if your motherboard has USB headers) I have two installed in my Voodoo II SLI rig. RGB control is done via a physical remote control.

Did you modify the strips or did they come with Molex connectors?

They came like that. I got them on Ebay maybe 2 years ago for about $5 each. Just search for "RGB strip molex" and you'll see them.
